The YMCA of Greater Long Beach is an organization that is a host to an array of programs, services, and initiatives that have a primary focus on important and essential concepts such as youth development, social responsibility, and healthy living.

Child care (Preschool, Kids' Club, etc.), health and wellness (Personal Training, Youth Fitness, etc.), sports (Swimming, Basketball, Gymnastics, etc.), community (e.g. Youth and Government), and academic programs are a few notable examples of the programs offered by the YMCA of Greater Long Beach.

Additionally, there is the Camp Oakes program — an annual summer camping trip that is held in Big Bear, CA. As with many of the organization's programs, Camp Oakes is designed to provide a supportive environment for youth while establishing a sense of "community" among them. To accomplish this, the program offers activities such as fishing, archery, and canoeing.
